STRATEGIC WORKPLACE BRIEFS

Typically, our briefs contain a project vision, workplace principles, user types, spatial requirements, design requirements and spatial relationships. Our briefs use text, diagrams and images to provide sufficient detail for designers to create concept designs and for delivery teams (e.g IT and FM) to prepare support systems for the new workplace.

SPACE PROGRAMMING

Combined with inPLACE STRATEGY’s in-house benchmarks, we develop sophisticated and nuanced space programs and space program tools, which delineate what type and how many spaces are needed. Our space programs are robust: they include not only standard work settings (e.g. desks, meeting rooms), but also all the operational spaces (cleaner’s cupboards, storage) needed for a workplace to perform well. We typically present space programs in 2-3 scenarios side-by-side, based on varying priorities, to help highlight the pros and cons of each.

SERVICE DESIGN

We advise on the different design of services affecting the workplace user: from stationery and mail management to room booking systems and helpdesk access. Our approach centers on the user experience but is mindful of operational efficiency.

POST-OCCUPANCY EVALUATIONS (POEs)

Once you’ve occupied a new or changed office, create a positive reinforcement loop by measuring your success with a POE. No project is perfect, so a POE can help catch problem areas (e.g. design issues, behavior challenges) quickly before they take firm root and re-adjust. POEs provide learnings for future projects and help organizations build on successes while avoiding mistakes.
