WORKPLACE-DRIVEN PORTFOLIO STRATEGY FOR A MAJOR UK BANK
Localizing global guidelines in Asia, India and the Middle East
GOALS
This global financial institution aimed to transform its business by starting new ways of working while optimizing space and improving the employee experience across its portfolio. This involved evaluating different office locations for how these goals could be achieved, while accounting for local needs and work cultures.
APPROACH
A workplace-driven approach was taken to assessing and demonstrating space needs and identifying opportunities for change. Demand-and-supply studies frequently looked at remain vs reduce vs relocate options.
Depending on the degree of change or project complexity, varying amounts of user engagement were conducted, from leader interviews and staff surveys to on-site observations to space utilization and sensor studies.
Working closely with the regional property team, findings and recommendations were carefully crafted to convey them to local and global leadership.
OUTCOMES
Significant support was provided for 12 sites across nine cities in five countries/territories. Implementation for select projects included developing the workplace strategy, proposing the site-specific amenities strategy, delivering change management and/or conducting post-occupancy evaluations (POEs), including pilot projects. The largest project implemented was the consolidation into a new office tower for 8,600 people in Pune, India, which has since garnered multiple recognitions.
